Experience based learning

Lighthouse & Campfire was intentionally designed to move beyond passive instruction and traditional classroom training.

Rather than relying primarily on lectures, presentations, certification testing, or scripted exercises, participants engage in intentionally designed shared experiences where participation, interaction, changing conditions, and the environment itself become part of the learning process.

The result is practical, operationally grounded leadership development that feels more connected to real-world environments, human interaction, and the realities faced by professionals operating in high responsibility roles.

Our unique approach to learning

Lighthouse & Campfire moves beyond passive instruction by replacing traditional classrooms, lectures, and scripted exercises with intentionally designed shared experiences.

The environment, activities, conversations, shared responsibilities, and changing conditions all become part of the learning process itself, creating practical, operationally grounded leadership development connected to real-world human interaction and dynamic environments.

What makes it different?

Every activity is intentionally designed with layered developmental value where participation, interaction, environmental conditions, group dynamics, and shared responsibility all contribute to the learning experience.

Rather than separating learning from the environment itself, Lighthouse & Campfire integrates practical engagement, observation, guided interaction, problem solving, and reflection directly into the experience as it unfolds.

Who benefits most?

Designed for safety professionals, operational leaders, supervisors, instructors, mentors, facilitators, and field leadership personnel operating in dynamic, high responsibility environments.

Key takeaways

Participants gain practical insight into leadership, communication, mentorship, operational awareness, and creating more meaningful engagement within dynamic, high responsibility environments.

Beyond the classroom, into the field

Our programs are intentionally designed to connect leadership development to real-world operational environments where communication, decision-making, adaptability, and human interaction directly influence people and outcomes.

Developed by Chuck Dornisch

Lighthouse & Campfire was developed by Chuck Dornisch and shaped through more than 25 years in construction safety leadership and over 30 years in the fire service operating in dynamic, high consequence environments where communication, adaptability, leadership, and decision-making directly impacted people and outcomes.

The experience reflects decades of practical operational leadership, mentorship, emergency response, field engagement, and leadership development in environments where conditions constantly changed and people relied on one another to work safely and effectively.

What to expect during the program

Participants engage in intentionally designed shared experiences that may include cooperative problem solving, guided interaction, shared meal preparation, outdoor activities, group discussion, reflection, and campfire conversation within a relaxed coastal environment.

Every aspect of the experience is intentionally structured to encourage participation, observation, communication, leadership interaction, and practical learning through changing conditions, group dynamics, and shared responsibility.
